about

"Crow" was a theme written by myself and David Taylor for the play "Carnival Nocturne," presented by Silent Theatre Co. and the DCA at the Storefront Theater in December 2009. I arranged the tune here for a jazz septet. "Up 'Gainst the Wall" is a blues melody by the great John Coltrane, recorded for his 1963 record "Impressions." "Criminal Mode" is also an original composition. "Lady Day," by Wayne Shorter, one of my favorite composers and saxophonists, was recorded in 1965 for his album "The Soothsayer." And "Ramblin" is a tune by free jazz artist Ornette Coleman, released on "Change of the Century" in 1959.
